Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? Is it an absolute must of nutrition? Should you eat breakfast every morning? The answer, I think, is yes and no. It’s black AND white. Not black OR white.
What makes breakfast different from your other meals during the day is that you have more power over it. In the morning, you have more willpower, more discipline and more control. You haven’t had anyone try and influence you yet. McDonald’s and Subway haven’t yet thrust their advertisements onto you. There’s been no one to influence your emotions. This is what makes breakfast so powerful. It’s your choice to eat nutritious food and it’s easier to make that choice in the morning and set the tone for the day.
Some people say to me, “Well, I don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning.” BS, everyone has time to make breakfast in the morning. You choose when you get out of that bed. You can wake up a half hour earlier and make a kick ass breakfast that’s going to fuel you for the rest of the day. Some say, “I’ll just eat a protein bar, a nutrigrain bar, a clif bar, protein shake, etc. etc.” All of these are CANDY. Hear me, THESE ARE CANDY. And they aren’t doing you any good. Like anything, breakfast is a priority. Either you make it one or you don’t. Would you walk out of your house without clothes on? Would you leave your house without brushing your teeth? No, because you have made them a priority and you have the power to make ANYTHING a priority. Breakfast, reading, meditation, working out, etc. You have ultimate power of choice and responsibility of your life.
What does a good breakfast look like? I eat slow digesting proteins and fibers. I eat alkaline foods that help balance out our acidic diets and sulphuric foods that are so good for you. Well, what exactly is it? I eat 8 poached eggs (I know, i’m crazy), ½ cup dry steel cut oats with cinnamon and craisins, a handful of steamed spinach, 2 pieces of bacon cooked with mushrooms and onions. And coffee, of course. This may sound like a lot but this takes me 12 minutes to prepare. Watch the video at the bottom of the page and i'll show you how. Think you can find 12 minutes to make yourself a decent meal? Think you can make it a priority? Think you can make YOU a priority? I believe in you.
There also is a time and place for fasting and skipping breakfast. It does a little bit more for males than females. Sorry ladies. Try not eating til 10am each day and one day out of the week don’t eat until 4pm. This depends greatly on the person. Shoot me a message and let’s see if fasting could be an option for you.
Ultimately guys. You get to choose. You get to choose when you eat, what you eat and these are very powerful decisions to make. Make it a priority. Commit to eating well. Commit to YOU and the life that you want to live. You only get ONE.
